Dings were first on the board with an early penalty through Tom Knight, but they were to be truly tested throughout the match, with their own infringements and the golden boot of Rams Fraser Honey.
Dan Swain was the first to cross the paint for the visitors, but Dings immediately replied with a trademark drive and Kofi Cripps taking the spoils.
Rams staged a ferocious attack in midfield, but this was broken by Sol Taufa, who gave Harry Rowson the freedom to score.
Honey's boot continued to punish the Crusaders, who seemed to be able to find the 5m touch from any part of the field. It was Tom Vooght who capitalised on this to score for the Rams.
As the end of the first 40 approached, play in the midfield was intense with no difference between the pace and poise of either side, but it was star man Robbie Stapley who broke the deadlock for Rams.
Dings weren't done though, as they valiantly battled inside their own 22, the swift hands of the back line produced another try for the jubilant Rowson closing the half 24-28
From the restart, Rams immediately applied pressure with Dings downfall of haemorrhaging penalties, allowing Rams to live off of Honeys precision boot with Stapley grounding the ball for his 102nd time and taking the Rams club record.
As if that wasn't enough, soon after, prop Brian Ncube saw yellow for the home side, but Dings were resilient to the Rams attack as they pressurised the visitors across the pitch, putting Jimmy Halliwell in to score and gain a bonus point try.
End to end stuff as Ncube returned, it was that set piece 5m line out drive for the Rams gifting them another as the ball popped out to Axel Kalling-Smith.
Undeterred, Dings pushed hard to get a glimpse of the losing bonus point, as Ncube cancelled out his sin-bin to score, but it was that sweet Honey boot that took the LBP away again with a 40m penalty at the death.
