This Sunday the Mavericks, placed eighth in the table, have a visit from the east as Newbury, third, come calling.
It's fair to say that our Womens first XV haven't had the greatest season.
This is a culmination of a number of things.
The skills chasm between the leagues, player deficit at the start of the season, as movements continued, other players joined, some new to rugby, injury curses, everything possible has been thrown at this team, but they continue to play, continue to work hard, train hard and play hard.
Now, coach Tom Lindsay has conveyed the message to the team around little victories. Focusing them on the smaller things done well rather than trying to look at the whole picture.
The team are happy, focussed and know that the journey is mapped out for them, but they will continue to move forward together.
Onto Sunday.
Last time out in Berkshire, Newbury posted 78 points on the Mavericks without reply.
This time they come to our house, and if you can, please come along and show your support for them, get behind them so that they feel part of the big picture, enabling them to focus on their own small victories.
Despite being 3rd in the table, Newbury haven't los a game all season. Of course they are a strong team, but they have their flaws.
The coaching team will look to exploit that, only having played them once, they will have taken on board learnings from last time out.
Players to watch from the visitors are top points and try scorer, Jenny Buckley. With 9 tries and 45 points to her name so far, she clearly sees a path to the opposition try-line. Closing her down will be key to the defensive set up, with a watchful eye on Henrietta Martin-Hierro and Elizabeth Harris with over 12 tries between them, Dings canteen take advantage of their own attack.
If you have the opportunity, please come and support the girls.
