Dings 27
Taunton 45
By John White
A superb second-half performance by Taunton earned them a bonus-point victory over Dings at Shaftesbury Park. After taking the lead in the fourth-minute with an unconverted try from Jack Arnott, though, Taunton were run ragged by Crusaders who played their best rugby of the season so far.
The Dings revival began with fly-half Ollie Millner kicking two penalties to nudge the home side ahead on 15 minutes. Flanker Tom Anderson crossed four minutes later before wing Jordan Grattan got Dings’ second try. And Taunton were back beneath their posts on 29 minutes after captain Anton Welling sprinted clear. Millner added all three conversions to take the home side into a 27-5 lead on the half-hour mark.
But that’s as good as it got for Dings, as the visitors re-grouped and staged a dramatic come back to score 40 unanswered points and win with something to spare. Taunton were awarded a penalty try before Arnott raced in for his second. Gary Kingdom converted to make it 27-19 at the turn. Titans continued to dominate in the second-half, scoring four unanswered tries. Oscar Kolowski went over two minutes into the second-half, with further touchdowns coming from Chris Francis, Tom Popham and Isaac Dalton - Kingdom added three conversions.
