IT is with deep regret that I must inform you that John Woodrow passed away on Monday, April 4. John was a well-known character around Filton where he lived with his wife Janet. A father to Paul and Mark, with the latter being a well-established player of his generation, John followed Mark on his rugby journey, but he was also a die-hard Dings supporter, who seldom missed a coach trip to watch his club play around the National league circuit.
All that met John would have warmed to his infectious character, and I have to say, some of those away trips were the best and funniest of times. John revelled in the long awaited move to Frenchay from his cherished Lockleaze ground where he would often be found standing in the now infamous corner of the pitch - where the water used to ooze. He loved every minute of it, and could be heard above even the most vociferous crowd. Unfortunately, poor health over the past two-years meant that John was unable to visit Shaftesbury Park on a regular basis.
John sadly passed away on Monday morning and I’m sure everyone at Dings would like to express their deepest and most sincere condolences to the family in what is obviously a very emotional time.
People who knew John are invited to attend the wake which will take place at 15:00 pm on Thursday, April 14, at Shaftesbury Park.
